ALOLA REGION

THE ALOLA REGION

Dex's main region is Alola, so any events or game-wide plots brought to you by the mod will be set there. Players will have to figure out why their characters are there, if they come from a different region!

However, characters can travel from region-to-region, and thus you can come up with your own player plots that affect a couple or group of characters. Just note the following:
➤ HMs are not used in Alola as they are in other regions, between the lack of gyms which give badges that allow you to use them and the fact that pokémon work hand-in-hand with each other and the people of the region. As such, riding pokémon is extremely common, even when they are not your own. No HM moves necessary! (Poké Ride will not be required to do this, for sake of convenience and logic, but some classes may utilize them for public services where their pokémon may not suffice, such as police officers, firemen, janitors, swimmers [in the role of lifeguards], etc.)

➤ Primary modes of transportation, outside of pokémon, are ships and cars, with the former being more common than the latter. There appear to be no commercial flights to or from Alola, and no trains to speak of. Ferries run between islands, and there's the seafolk who travel the seas in a fleet. Cars are limited but utilized, ranging from the typical car and truck in cities to farm vehicles and even a shuttle bus. They're uncommon transportation between cities and towns, however, due to respect for the wild pokémon. Bicycles or other bikes may pop up, but, again, the former would be more common than, say, a motorcycle.

➤ As such, please keep in mind that these methods of travel take time. It's not necessary for you to play out any of the travel time, unless you want to, but it's important to remember that it's not actually instantaneous. Walking a route may take days, and ferries between regions will take a decent amount of time as well. For reference, the ferries that run between islands in Hawaii take 45 minutes for one (Maui-Lanai), and 90 minutes for another (Maui-Molokai).
