SETTING INFORMATION | ||||
TIMELINE Dex is set before the events of Pokémon Sun and Moon, meaning that none of the plot has happened. This allows for players to explore the setting and develop their characters along with the plot as events in Dex progress it forwards. Aether Foundation is fully established and working on its projects and conservation efforts, Team Skull has completely overtaken Po Town and is working out of it in their own efforts to cause trouble and do their "work," and the islands are finding the middle ground between the two organizations as best they can. POKÉMON Pokémon movesets are not restricted to four, so anything your pokémon learns throughout their life from LVL 1 to 100, including TM, HM, and tutor moves, will all be remembered. Teams are still restricted to six, however if your character's pokémon has had a clutch of eggs or is a breeder without a daycare/nursery, those don't count to the team number until the hatched pokémon have hit level 5. At that point, they either need to box some of their team/the offspring or give them to another trainer (whether PC or NPC). This restriction does not apply to Poké Ride, due to the fact it calls upon nearby pokémon to assist the user, and these pokémon often belong to someone else, may be registered by a community/service for public use/aid, or may even be wild in Dex. There are no restrictions on boxed pokémon, and it's up to players how many they have and what they are, as those won't be something that's kept track of on the taken post, though people can use the profile/tracking post for this. The pokémon listed on the taken page are your primary team members, whoever your character will generally have with them no matter what, though they can be periodically changed if you so wish. POWERS AND TECH As this is an AU setting, any and all powers and technology that are typical in your canons (whatever level that might be) will have to either be accommodated to the world of Dex, or are nonexistent. The technology is surprisingly advanced, however, so it's not as restrictive as you'd expect. And some humans are known to be more durable, stronger, and faster than others. Psychics and mediums also obviously exist, and of course the concept of Aura, so it's not as if there's no way to adapt to the setting. This isn't something that's going to be moderated, though, which means it's at player discretion. So don't abuse it! CLASSES AND BUSINESSES Currently, non-Pokémon canon characters can only be civilian classes (ie; no Leaders, Admin, etc unless that's their canon class). Depending on player interest, the ability to become island Kahuna or Captains may become available. But, as of game start, this trainer class (and that of Leaders) will remain unavailable. Your character can be a regional champion but they'll be one of many, given the nature of the series. If you want to work for a Villain Team, Silph/Devon/etc, or even Aether, you are more than welcome to! Businesses are available for all characters (although if you're a small child, what are you doing trying to run a business when you should be in school or on a pokémon journey? you don't need a lemonade stand), regardless of trainer class. In lieu of characters having gyms, they can have schools, dojos, camps, labs, etc, which can act as pre-gym/trial establishments. Breeders are also welcome to have their own daycares/nurseries, where they're free to have more than six pokémon under their care at once due to the purpose and requirements of a daycare. (Protecting and nurturing eggs and lodged pokémon, breeding, and lodging/training.) Lodging for people can be found at Pokémon Centers (where characters can also work, in a variety of roles!), though space is limited unless you want to roll out a sleeping bag in the lobby somewhere when there aren't any vacancies. Inns/motels/hotels/etc also exist, and characters can run them as a service. Or you can go out and chuck Pyukumuku back into the sea if you just want a lazy parttimer. PLOTS There will be some mod generated game-wide plots, specifically those connected to the actual SuMo story to advance Dex's own plot forward, but this is a very relaxed sandbox-style environment. Players are free to get together and conduct their own plots, but there's no real overarching plot to Dex at this time beyond the canon one. So choose your own adventure and pet some pokémon. |
